The working size for walls and ceilings in living rooms. A pass lays down in one stroke, there are fewer joins between passes, and therefore fewer marks to sand out afterwards. At the same time the blade is not yet so long that it becomes hard to keep straight one-handed.
Half-millimetre steel flexes less than a thin blade. Over a wide span it holds its line and does not drift with the substrate, which suits the first levelling coat and any area where a ridge has to be cut rather than copied. For the finishing coat, take 0.3 mm.
The straight working line across the full width gives an even finish without waves or streaks, so less needs correcting once it dries.
The blade is made for NOVQO plastic spatulas of the matching width — a 60 cm blade in a 60 cm spatula. Spatulas with an aluminium body (ALU) take a separate blade series.
